Private chauffeur from Lyon to Tignes, up to 2,100 m

Tignes le Lac sits at 2,100 m, at the top of the Haute-Tarentaise. From central Lyon the drive is 234 km and 3 h 15; from Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport, 221 km and 3 h. A Lyon to Tignes transfer is planned like a flight: an address, a time, a vehicle chosen for your bags and your skis. Moving Prestige has been driving this road for almost thirty years, with the same contact from the first call to the drop-off outside your building.

Arriving in Tignes from Lyon

From central Lyon the road runs 234 km and 3 h 15. From Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport it is 221 km and 3 h: motorway as far as Albertville, then the Tarentaise valley, narrowing kilometre after kilometre. Your chauffeur follows your flight and moves the pick-up to the actual landing.

By train, the access station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice. From there 30 km and 40 min of road remain, the climbing part, hairpins and often snow. We meet you on the platform and leave as soon as the bags are loaded. That last stretch sets the departure time far more than the motorway does: when the road is difficult, your chauffeur leaves Lyon earlier rather than rushing the climb. Waiting is included, thirty minutes at a station, one hour at an airport, counted from the scheduled landing time.

THE MOVING PRESTIGE EXPERIENCE

A moment to yourself.

Skis, luggage and your address in resort

A week at 2,100 m means skis, boots and a case each. The V-Class carries seven passengers, the E-Class or the GLE three, the S-Class two, and the Sprinter VIP has fifteen seats with a hold for twelve large cases. We count one piece of luggage per person and pick the vehicle on that total, not on the seat count. For a group, several cars leave together from one address and arrive together. Tignes le Lac or Val Claret: give us the name of the building and we stop outside it.

On changeover Saturdays the Tarentaise fills from mid-morning. We leave earlier on those days, without being asked. Night arrivals are handled the same way: on private journeys the rate is a single one, with no night, weekend or public holiday surcharge. An urgent request is set up in under an hour. On board, Wi-Fi, a bottle of water, and a chauffeur in a suit who speaks French and English.

The season, and the road back to Lyon

Winter sets the terms. At 2,100 m the snow lies late and the valley fills quickly: your chauffeur checks the state of the road before setting off and tells you if the departure time changes. We drive properly equipped, and we would rather leave half an hour early than call you from a queue. In summer the resort lives differently, the lake and the passes take over from the pistes, and the same 234 km run without the changeover Saturdays.

Going home, the flight time sets the departure from the resort. We work backwards from it: check-in, 30 km down to Bourg-Saint-Maurice or 221 km to Lyon-Saint-Exupéry, and a margin for the descent. You get a pick-up time outside your building, and the chauffeur is there before it. For a railway station, Lyon Part-Dieu or Saint-Exupéry TGV, the reasoning is identical. One call is enough to move the departure earlier or later, at any hour, weekends included.

The details

What people ask us

How long is the drive from Lyon to Tignes?

Allow 3 h 15 for the 234 km between central Lyon and Tignes le Lac, and 3 h for the 221 km from Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport. The time shifts with the season, with traffic in the Tarentaise, and with the state of the road over the final kilometres.

Will the chauffeur wait if my flight is delayed?

Yes. We track your flight and the pick-up moves with the actual landing. Waiting is included for up to one hour at the airport, counted from the scheduled landing time, and up to thirty minutes at a railway station or a hotel. You have nothing to report from baggage reclaim.

How many people can you take to Tignes?

Seven passengers in the V-Class, three in the E-Class or the GLE 400, two in the S-Class, and fifteen seats in the Sprinter VIP, whose hold swallows twelve large cases. We count one piece of luggage per person and allow for skis when choosing the vehicle. Beyond that, several vehicles leave together from one address.

Can we start from Bourg-Saint-Maurice station?

Yes. It is the access station for the Haute-Tarentaise and the most common starting point after the TGV, with 30 km and 40 min left to Tignes. We also pick up at Lyon Part-Dieu, at Saint-Exupéry TGV, and at Grenoble or Chambéry airports on request.
